Whats the difference in Polished Aluminium & Chrome?
Polished aluminium examples are the most authentic to the original design, with the aluminium frame & arm components polished to a smooth and shiny finish. Chrome finish chairs were introduced by Vitra in the late 1980s - these chairs are chrome plated on top of the standard aluminium frame. These feature a more shiny mirror like finish than the polished aluminium.
Whats the difference between Vitra , Herman Miller & ICF chairs
Charles & Ray Eames created many different iconic furniture designs - these designs were then licensed for production by various manufacturers over the years - Initially being manufactured by Herman Miller & ICF both individually and Jointly, with Vitra replacing Herman Miller for the non American Market in the late 1980s and still hold the license to this day. ICF also held a manufacturing license during the late 1990s early 2000s. Currently Herman Miller produces for all markets except Europe & the Middle East for which Vitra produces form
What model chairs are adjustable?
Not all aluminium group chairs have adjustments. EA107 & EA207 are both fixed position chairs meaning no swivel, no height adjustment, no tilt. EA108 & EA208 have swivel. EA117 / EA119 & EA217 / EA219 all have swivel, height adjustment, tilt lock & tilt tensioner.
How are the chairs restored?
All the chairs that come through our workshop get cleaned and their mechanisms serviced ( where applicable ). Most chairs also undergo light leather restoration, touching up any scuffs, marks that may be present. On Polished aluminium chairs we strip down the frame, arms and base refinishing and polishing to a smooth and shiny finish
